As a child we all walked naturally and efficiently. After about the age of 5 our once strong postures start to weaken and as the years go by we pick up all sorts of bad habits from sitting too much, watching tv, driving etc. As you get older you start to notice little niggles here and there and wonder where it came from and it starts to affect how long you can stand for or walk for, without feeling discomfort. Chi Walking introduces you to understanding your default posture, developing mind-body awareness in your everyday standing and walking and new skills for moving well and walking stronger and longer. Chi Walking compliments other practices, such as yoga, t'ai chi, pilates, nordic walking, running, hill walking etc. Whether you are an occasional walker or avid hill walker, Chi Walking can give you new insights and tips for walking better and more efficiently which you can use for the rest of your life. Walking is the building block to so many things that we do. If we can do it with less stress, more awareness and more energy then the results will flow into other parts of our lives (physically, mentally and emotionally). In this workshop we will be exploring the essentials of Chi Walking (posture, alignment, balance, mind-body awareness and working with gravity) and then go out on a walk to explore everyday walking, walking meditation and either aerobic or hill walking.
